OUR HISTORY

Kasarinlan High School is located at Tuna Street, Kaunlaran Village. The school is in Barangay 28 which is under the administration of Chairman Edgar Galgana Jr. It has a total population of twenty-nine thousand eight hundred twelve (29,812) or a total of five thousand seven hundred ninety-four (5,794) families. Barangay 28 is the largest barangay in District II. The following streets comprise Barangay 28- Kawal, Landaska,Sawata,Kumpol, KBS, Talilong, Talaba, Tuna, Talangka ,Talakitok, Tahong, Taksay ,Tawilis and Kamada.
Most of the residents live below the poverty line. The common occupations of the residents are peddlers, vendors, pedicab drivers and factory workers. There are few pedicab operators and tricycle operators and entrepreneurs.
The literacy level ranges from fifty to sixty –five per cent (50%-65%) of the total population and about thirty-five percent (35%) are under illiteracy level.
In the late seventies ,the community used to be a barren and swampy land. During the time of the late President Ferdinand Marcos, Dagat-Dagatan area was developed by the Ministry of Human Settlements to solve housing problem of the urban poor. Dagat-Dagatan was divided into two villages: Kaunlaran and Kasarinlan traversing C-5 going to Manila passing Navotas and the Bay area. Dagat-dagatan served as relocation area for the urban poor in Metro Manila.
